Last year we were interviewed for a documentary about how great the Leeds music scene is! It was due to be shown on ITV Yorkshire but we all know what happened there!

Anway, it’s now online at: http://www.vimeo.com/4676143 We’re in the ‘Meet the scene’ bit from about 3 mins 30 in ’till 9 mins. Mwen gets the last word in, go Mwen!

Leeds gigs coming up

June 16th, 2009

We’ve got a couple of gigs coming up in our home town. First up, Tuesday 23rd June, Brudenell Social Club. which is a celebration of Paul McSweeney’s life on what would have been his 40th birthday. Paul was a stalwart of Unity Day and Leeds music scene in general. He was also a big Hayashi fan so it’ll be an honor to play.

Next we are playing Planet Leeds festival, Sunday 28th June, Brewery Wharf Stage, 6pm. We’re the last band on so come on down and throw some frickin’ shapes!

Please vote for us in the Radio Aire ‘Local and Unsigned’ competition. We’re in the running to play at the live event at The Wardrobe, which would be pretty cool. Voting starts 12 noon on Monday 17th.

Changes to December gigs

November 13th, 2008

Due to circumstances beyond our control, we have been forced to change the dates of our gigs in December.

We are now playing The Faversham in Leeds on Friday 5th December, supporting ‘Bullion’ @ New Bohemia. It’s our first gig in Leeds since Unity Day in August so come down and we’ll make sure it’s banging!

Unfortunately we will not be playing Cargo in London. We were due to do the New Bohemia night there but apparently Cargo has stopped putting on outside promoted events on Fridays. We’re getting on the case to get a gig down there a.s.a.p. ‘coz we had such a good gig down there last time.

Listen to our interview with BBC Leeds’ Raw Talent Xtra here and witness an improptu ‘a cappella’ rendition of ‘Nuevo’ plus Mwen gives us a taste of new tune ‘Judas’.

Break from gigging

September 22nd, 2008

We’re taking a break from gigging for a bit while D’s away concentrating on finishing her PhD.
Fear not though, we are using the time to write new material and will return in December with two New Bohemia dates. The first one is Friday 5th December at Cargo, London. The next is Friday 12th December at The Faversham, Leeds.

Hayashi to play Unity Day

July 22nd, 2008

We’re very pleased to be playing Unity Day this year. It’s being held on 16th August this year.
There’s always loads of stuff for everyone to enjoy all day. We’ll be playing in the Band Tent at 9.45pm. So come and down and show your support for community spirit.

The last few weeks…

February 19th, 2008

What a busy time we’ve been having. On 24th January we went up to Durham Uni to play with Pendulum and Skream at the Subotica night. The crowd got well into the vibe of d’n'b being done by live musicians. Slightly dissappointed that Pendulum was only a DJ set, we would have loved to see the full band. Big thanks to the promoters for treating us so well.
The week after that Ana gave birth to a lovely baby boy! Much love to her and her new family.

February 8th saw us playing the Raise the Roof festival at Leeds West Indian Centre. An exellent atmosphere with cool people and a rig from Purple Pro Audio that you wouldn’t believe.

Our next gig is a Unity Day fundraiser on Tues 4th March at Brudenell Social Club in Leeds. Get yourself down there because not only is it for a good cause but you’ll also be able to see Tarentum, Mr Beasley and Cowtown.
